'Celebrity Trainers' - the WORST kind of PT you can have ??
So story time.
Back a few years ago now.
I think it was 2017.
When I was working at Ultimate Performance in Mayfair.
Occasionally we’d get celebrities coming in to train with their trainers.
For a one-off session kinda thing.
While they’re on the road in London.
And needed a private facility to train at.
Naturally.
They’d get interrupted for a million selfies if they went to PureGym.
Here’s the ticker though ..
I kid you not ..
In every instance of this happening.
The trainers of these celebrities were not only just terrible ..
In terms of exercise selection
Exercise execution
Giving their client a positive training experience
They also did not care at all.
At all.
They put in absolutely ZERO effort into their session.
Looking around
On their phone
Not engaged
It was honestly quite shocking for us Trainers working at UP.
Because we were the opposite.
The worst example?
Calvin Harris and his trainer.
>>
I don’t think the trainer even paid ANY attention during any of Calvin’s sets in his sessions
(maybe his DJ sets were more his thing 😂)
He just stood around looking around the gym.
Gazing up at the ceiling
Getting his phone out
You name it
.. While Calvin was doing some step-ups (badly).
I personally wouldn’t pay £5 for that type of service.
Let alone how much he actually was charging.
>>
These ‘celebrity trainers’ as they call themselves.
Definitely aren’t there on merit for the most part.
They can’t be.
Unless they started off well ..
And then massively dropped off a cliff & stopped caring after a while.
It’s usually a friend-of-a-friend type of deal.
We’ve all seen the video of the Kardashians ‘working out’ with their trainer ..
Enough said 😩
>>
Now look ..
They’re probably not ALL bad.
There will be some good ones out there.
Who train high-profile people .. properly
But for the most part.
The ‘Celebrity trainer’ tag is a red flag if you want results.
Believe it or not ..
It’s actually harder training non-celebs ..
Rather than the stars who have millions of £££ which is somewhat dependent on how they look/perform.
Chris Hemsworth was paid $20 million for his latest film ..
Training him to be in shape for that movie would be pretty easy.
His incentive is already there 😂
Whereas your regular office worker with 2 kids & a full-time job.
Who can only just about squeeze in 3 sessions a week on top of everything else.
Who’s training/physique comes last behind everything else.
Requires a more skilled approach.
Anyway - rant over.
Have a great Monday.
Harry
