I dislike these 2 exercises intensely 🤬
I’m all for everyone going to the gym for different reasons.
Of course.
Not everyone has the sole intention to attempt to build as much muscle as possible.
(Although, I would argue that for MOST people, this should be the top, if not one of the top aims)
Some people come to the gym to exercise a bit, get a sweat on.
Leave the house.
Socialise.
Whatever.
I have to say it though ..
There are some exercises ..
That are just not that good ..
Sorry.
You may as well not do them.
Honestly.
Because there are similar exercises which are far ‘better’.
By better, I mean ..
You’ll be able to work harder on.
Take this mega-popular exercise.
The cable face pull with rope
I’d give this a solid 2/10.
Mechanically it’s terrible.
When you compare it to a regular cable rear delt fly.
>> “Oh but I really feel my rear delts working on this exercise, compared to others”
Really? Ok fine. But you’d probably feel them even more on a better movement.

Another super popular exercise
The standing DB / BB shoulder press
2/10.
A seated version on a bench, a few notches back from 90º ..
8/10
It’s just sooooo much better
With a relatively small adjustment.
>> “Oh but I really doing this exercise, that’s why I have it in my routine”
Doing the same exercise on a bench takes the ‘enjoyment’ out of it ..?
It’s that much more ‘fun’ doing it standing?
