I'm telling you, so you don't make the same mistake
One of my biggest regrets recently.
When it’s come to my own training, nutrition etc.
Was that I tried to stay too lean the whole time.
Even in a ‘build’ phase …
I’d still aim to maintain a level of condition that …
In hindsight, negatively affected my muscle-building efforts.
Because here’s the thing.
When you’ve been doing the whole training thing for a while.
You realise that losing fat is the EASY part.
And building muscle is the TOUGH part.
>
It’s almost like losing fat is the instant gratification of body composition.
You can make progress in a matter of weeks.
You see the numbers on the scale moving fast.
You notice differences in the mirror quickly.
It’s easy mode.
Building muscle is that delayed gratification.
i.e, you’ll get rewarded next year for the work you do this month.
The progress is painstakingly slow.
Most of the time, you QUESTION whether you actually are making progress.
Because it’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to tell.
Genuinely.
>
If I hadn’t been so cautious with gaining body fat in those muscle-building periods.
I’d probably have a LOT more grams of muscle on my frame right now.
And instead, I just have a few nice photos on my camera roll of me looking pretty lean walking around London.
See what I mean here?
Don’t unnecessarily put on body fat for the sake of it, though.
(A lot of people get this wrong too)
But if you’re experienced enough.
And are already lean’ish enough.
Then don’t be afraid to put on a few KGs of fat.
In the pursuit of gaining muscle.
(Which is v hard to do)
