I'm trying something new ...
So I tried out rock climbing this week.
Or bouldering, as some call it.
Thursday night.
Loved it.
Felt great doing something TOTALLY different.
Physically - because 90% of it is forearm & finger strength.
Which you obviously don’t train directly in everyday workouts.
Some of the holds only allow you to hang on with a couple of fingers.
And mentally - because I’m scared of heights 😂
And although it doesn’t look it.
When you’re almost at the top of the climbing wall.
Then look down.
It feels like a loooooong way down to the floor.
With only 4 of your fingers and 1 foot holding your entire body up.
Then it feels like you have to take a leap of faith.
Totally unnerving.
But it was great.
And I’m going to try to make it part of a weekly / at least monthly routine.
>
Have already ordered some climbing shoes.
Skin in the game & that.
Forced accountability.
So have to go at least 20x times to get my money back on those.
>
I got my buddy to take a video of my last climb of the night.
Which I had struggled with.
Think I did 3-4 failed attempts before finally getting it.
Climbing to the top, basically.
So …
It FELT like a 9/10 difficulty. Pretty hard.
I was panting, sweating - basically just really struggling with it.
But it looked like a 2/10 difficulty.
Honestly.
Looked so unimpressive & straightforward.
Like I had much more in the tank.
>
A bit like how MOST of our working sets look like in the gym.
It FEELS totally different to how it looks.
Meaning we can all probably push a little harder when we’re training.
Even me …
Something I’ll work on.
Have a good one 🙏
Harry
