What goes on holiday .. 😮💨
Bit of a break from tradition this morning.
Going to talk about numbers.
One of my clients just sent me a screenshot of her ‘stats’ from a big walk she did.
On holiday.
Snowshoeing.
Right - here they are
———
14.12km walked
725m elevation gain
6h 44min elapsed time
Average outside temp 22º
(and get this next one..)
Calories burned 1,980kcal
Lol.

So 7 hours of snowshoeing.
Hard work.
Uphill.
For basically a whole working day (8 hours)
To burn off a main course Sunday pub lunch roast.
Or a starter and a dessert.
Moral of the story.
The ‘using exercise to burn calories’ game is impossible to win.
i m p o s s i b l e.
It’s such a stupid game to play honestly.
That if you try doing it.
You’re completely wasting your time.
“But my friend does a lot of exercise and can eat whatever they like & they don’t put on weight”
-> Bullsh*t
They DO put on weight if they overeat.
Like everyone.
The laws of energy balance govern every human on this planet.
Your friend isn’t an exception.
They A) just don’t tell you about it every time the scale moves
(who does that btw..? If the scale goes up 500g, they instantly tell their closest friends they’ve put on weight? I don’t think so)
or B) you can’t really tell if someone puts on 2-3kg.
How could you?
Unless it’s your other half and you see them naked a lot.
It’s impossible to tell when someone’s wearing clothes.
Only when it gets to 5, 10kg etc it might be noticeable.

“I just did a 40-minute spin class & burnt 500kcal”
-> No you didn’t
More like 50kcal on top of what you would have already burned.
If 7 hours of uphill walking in the snow = 2,000kcal
45 minutes of spinning is not even 10% of that.
Have a great weekend 🤩
Harry
