1 step back, 2 steps forward
Have been taking a spontaneous deload week from training this week.
Just felt like it tbh …
Because when you’ve been training properly for several years.
Consistently week in week out.
Not taking weeks, months off etc.
Like I’ve been doing (as I should do!).
Then you become quite good at being able to “read” your own body.
You begin to know when to push the envelope.
And when to back off.
For me … this week?
Time to back off.
>
But when you’re just starting out with your training?
And you don’t have thousands of training sessions under your belt.
You can’t “read” your body as well.
You might not know where your limits are.
How hard you can push yourself.
When you need to back off.
You learn these kinds of things in the trenches.
>
If you occasionally miss a session or two (or several) each month.
For whatever reason.
As a lot of people do.
Then you’re inadvertently de-loading on those weeks.
And probably don’t need to plan one in.
But for the hardcore consistent “never miss a session” type people.
You’ll need to factor them in every now & again.
Taking 1 step back to move 2 steps forward kind of thing.
>
You’ll probably be reluctant to take one.
And feel like your training sessions aren’t hard enough.
But towards the end of the week.
You’ll be glad you did. Recharged, niggles disappearing etc.

Happy Friday.
