Apple won't like to hear this ...
One of THE biggest wastes of time.
And effort.
When training.
Is monitoring how many calories you’ve burned in a workout.
Yup.
A totally pointless exercise.
And I’d go out on a limb and say MOST people that do that.
Are just guilty of how many calories they consumed the day/night before.
>
It’s the worst gauge of how “effective” your workouts are.
Look at it this way for example.
Let’s say you train for 55 minutes.
More or less what I do with my clients in their hour slot.
And you fit around 20 sets into that.
Each set lasts around what … 25 seconds?
(Depending on how slow you’re doing each rep
Plus how many reps you’re doing)
But if you’re doing 8-12 reps.
With a controlled-ish tempo.
Then 25 seconds is about right.
It comes out to 500 seconds of actual “training” time during your session.
8.5 minutes.
>
You spend the vast majority of a (good) weight training session resting.
The calories burned are going to be comparatively low.
But the volume you put through your muscles will be pretty high.
If you’re interested in calories burned.
Swap that ratio around …
Work : Rest
And you’ll soon find out that you’re doing cardio, not resistance training.
Happy Thursday 😎💥
