*not a paid add* 🤑
A client yesterday asked me whether those fancy scales are worth using.
You know ..
The ones that track not only your body weight.
But also your muscle mass, fluid levels etc.
I’m not a scientist.
A technician.
I’m not even a body weight expert ..
But I don’t understand the mechanism those scales have.
That can give you a muscle mass & fluid level reading.
Just by standing on it.
(if anyone does btw, reply to this & let me know)
So chances are, it’s going to be pretty inaccurate.
And not a reliable source of information.
>>
The batteries also drain about 100x quicker than regular scales.
No joke.
You’ll be needing new batteries every few months.
Compared to the OG Salter bathroom scales.
That need a change every decade.
I’ve also heard stories of those scales giving very funky readings.
Some days the readings are all off.
Old school is sometimes better than new tech
Definitely the case when it comes to bathroom scales.
BUT ..
(always a but)
Let’s say for instance.
That I did actually give you totally accurate muscle mass readings.
And also able to tell you exactly your body's water % level.
Every time.
Day in day out.
Armed with that information ..
Would it change anything you do with your training, diet & lifestyle..?
Genuinely.
Take the muscle-building part.
-> We’re all trying to build as much muscle anyway.
.. aren’t we?
(If you’re not, you should)
Trying to hit the gym as much as realistically possible
Doing the correct exercises
Pushing hard in our sets
We’re already doing that.
You don’t need a scale to tell you.
-> We’re also drinking enough water each day ..
aren’t we?
Water intake is the lowest-hanging fruit there is in fitness.
If you need an app or scale to tell you to consume more regularly ..
>>
You get my point (hopefully).
Stick with the basic scales 😅
