NOT a philosophy lecture ... I promise 😇
As with most things in life.
Timing is everything.
“Right place, right time”
But …
Even if you’re in the WRONG place.
As long as it’s the RIGHT time.
You’ll probably get lucky in the end.
We’ve all had first-hand experience with that.
Whether it’s hitting 4 green traffic lights in a row on the way to work.
Even if you were running late in the first place.
Getting back indoors.
Just as it starts pouring with rain outside.
Through to forgetting your usual Lotto numbers.
And ending up winning the £185m jackpot
… 😂
>
So that begs the question.
“Is today (Nov 11th) the best time to start a diet?”
Friday, middle of November.
Well …
Most of the Instagram PTs will tell you that there’s never a good time to start.
And the best time to start is now.
No excuses.
You’ll wish you had started sooner.
Etc.
Which is sort of true.
But also sort of not.
Start your diet now, and unless you have absolutely zero plans for December (highly unlikely).
You’ll only have 2-3 weeks of having a crack at it.
Basically not long enough.
You’re almost setting yourself up to fail.
Unless you only ever plan on dieting for 2-3 weeks anyway.
(Which tbh a lot of people probably do 😂)
>
Start that same diet in January?
And you’ve probably got at LEAST 2 months of good dieting conditions.
-> January is usually quiet on the social front. Dry Jan, cleaning up after a boozy Christmas, funds for most people are low.
-> February is probably similar. It picks up a bit in March when the weather starts turning, but for the most part, February is a good dieting month.
So just by changing your start date.
You INCREASE your chance of success.
>
Don’t completely write off the year just yet.
You can still train hard
Make sensible(ish) food choices
Improve your fitness with steps/training
So that when January comes, you’re in a stronger position to crack on.
Just my 2 cents.
Happy Friday 🥳
