This p*sses me off
You know that popular saying in the fitness industry.
That always gets put in memes in front of people in phenomenal shape.
That goes something like:
“An hour's workout is only 4% of your day … what’s your excuse?”
Etc
Basically saying that your workout represents a SMALL percentage of your day.
4% = tiny
And you should always find time to fit it in.
If you don’t, then it’s on you.
Because if you can’t afford a 4% investment … you need your priorities checking.
You get the idea.
>>
But hang on a minute.
It’s not 4% is it?
You can’t click your fingers after you finish a Zoom meeting at home.
Teleport to the gym (which is 30 mins away).
Miraculously change into your workout kit.
And start your set of Squats instantaneously.
>>
What about:
Getting to the gym …?
That takes time. Unless you’re a PT and literally work at the gym.
You’ll have to travel to get there.
So that’s more time
Getting changed, showered, ready for work after …?
Don’t tell me people finish their last set on the Hack Squat …
And then IMMEDIATELY jump into their quarterly sales meeting.
With no time in-between.
No shower, no change of clothes, no cooling down.
What about travelling from the gym back to home / the office.
C’mon 😂
Teleporting isn’t a thing.
What about your warm-up, getting the equipment ready etc …?
If you train in a commercial gym (like 99% of people do, including me).
Your workout doesn’t start the moment you leave the changing room.
You’ve got to grab the first piece of kit
Get it set up
Do a warm up set
Do your core isometrics (game changer BTW)
That all takes TIME.
>>
Scheduling 3-5 training sessions a week if you’re a busy adult is a BIG achievement.
It’s tough to do.
Especially when you have multiple pulls on your time, energy & effort.
It’s not 4% of your day.
It’s probably more like 50% of all your ‘free’ time on any given day.
So don’t pay any attention to those bullsh*t memes 😅
Have a good one ✌️
Harry
